Hi everybody! How are you all?! I hope you’re all doing really well. I’m hitting you with a brand new lifestyle/chatter post today as, well, my life has gone from 0 to 80 miles per hour in the last couple of months. Now we’re in October, things seem to be calming down slightly and adapting to my routine. But heck, they always said that the real work started after University and I couldn’t agree more! Since graduating back in July, I’ve spoken quite a lot on social media and on my blog about why its’s so important to look after your mental health at University. But, its’ still important to look after your mental health once you’ve graduated, or even if you didn’t go to University. Therefore, I’m really enjoying reflecting on my life and seeing where there is room for improvement.
So, are you ready to spill the tea?
Adapting to Life as a Psychology Graduate
Life seems to be going really well for me at the minute. It has it’s ups and downs – things I do enjoy and things I don’t enjoy, but I’m really happy to be where I am right now. I’m currently really enjoying blogging more often and spending time with friends, and up until recently I’ve been working part-time. I’ve been reading ‘The Multi-Hyphen Method’ by Emma Gannon and I’m absolutely loving it. I’d consider myself already to have “multiple hyphens”, i.e. multiple strings of income, as she’d say, but didn’t even realise that this was a thing until I read this book. I suddenly feel a lot more normal and completely understand the struggles with explaining what I do. What’s incredible is that I’ve been nominated for the ‘Blogger of the Year’ Birmingham Awards! I’m absolutely over the moon, this is the first time that I’ve ever been nominated for a blog award and I am chuffed that someone likes my hard work (so if it’s you, thank you!!). I didn’t get shortlisted, but it’s still an achievement that I’m really proud of.
I’ve also continued working part time at Accessorize until recently and I have to say, I absolutely love it. As the staff know that I write a blog, I volunteered to photograph the Accessorize x Brum Bloggers event recently and it was such a fantastic opportunity. I absolutely loved the event, spending time with my blogger friends and meeting so many new wonderful pieces. I have a few winter/christmas blogging events lined up soon and to say I’m excited is a complete understatement!
Preparing For Christmas
I’m also trying to prepare for Christmas a little behind the scenes. It’s the most hectic time of year and I do find it really difficult to deal with the stress of it all. Therefore, I’ve been trying to purchase some Christmas presents in advance (as you may notice that everything is ridiculously overpriced come December), making the most of charity shops, D.I.Y projects and sales. This way, it keeps the cost down, but I also try to make sure that I really think about what I’m buying and pick up something personal and cute for each person.
