If you’d have asked me twelve months ago whether I was into jewellery, I’d have told you straight away that I didn’t reach for it often as I am far too lazy and I always forget to put any on before I leave the house. Fast forward to the present, however, I’ve changed my mind significantly on the matter and I now absolutely love it. Having worked in a jewellery shop allowed me to learn a lot more about metals, stones and what goes into jewellery and I can appreciate it so much more now.
When Statement Made Jewellery offered to send me a piece of their jewellery, I couldn’t say no! They actually surprised me with this rose gold coloured necklace with a lotus flower and ‘C’ on. I absolutely adore that it was personalised to me, I don’t have many pieces that are so unique but this feels like one of a kind. It’s also my first piece of rose gold jewellery, so I’m very happy!
I decided to wear this necklace during my graduation meal as I loved that the rose gold colour matched the rose gold chain on my bag! The chain is longer than any of the necklaces that I currently own which makes it stand out a little bit more. I really like that aspect of the necklace because the flower and the initial are quite small and subtle. Though, if shorter necklaces are more your style, it’s worth considering that the chain isn’t adjustable, so you are really stuck with the same length.
Whilst I don’t wear this necklace everyday, I’ve worn it a few times (even to my graduation!) since I’ve brought it and it also seems to be wearing really well. I do expect some wear and tear with these type of products, I’ve encountered a lot of rose-gold plated items in my time that gradually fade to a dull, silvery colour so I do expect it to happen with time. That said, it’s still looking really nice and bright.
The necklace does come well packaged, in an absolutely beautiful pouch. The pouch is bigger than it needs to be for one necklace, but this means that you could also put other items in if you wanted. Good for travelling with, possibly? The necklace also comes with a card detailing care information and social media details which is a thoughtful addition. I’ve learnt from past experience, that how jewellery lasts is largely determined by how it is treated, so a subtle reminder and guidance on how to look after your jewellery is fantastic. I’m a firm believer that regardless of the metal, you should take all jewellery off to sleep and shower and so it’s a good reminder to those who may be younger and not as experienced with looking after jewellery, costume or not.
Statement Made Jewellery also offer a whole range of engraved jewellery which would make a wonderful gift for a friend or family member. Engraved jewellery is typically expensive, I believe, but SMJ offer bangles at around £20 which makes for a wonderful, sentimental gift on a budget. The necklaces are also around the £15 – £20 price point, if they were more your style.
