At the moment I have been spending a hell of a lot of time watching things on Netflix. I’ve just finished University and I’ve honestly never had so much spare time to just sit and watch things at my own leisure. When it comes to TV i’m a creature of habit and I tend to watch the same programs over and over, until, to be quite frank, I am sick of the sight of them.
One of my current guilty pleasures at the moment is RuPauls Drag Race; a program whereby contestants compete to become America’s next drag superstar, completing a variety of catwalk looks and challenges along the way. Unfortunately they have recently taken the earlier series’ off but there is still seasons 8, 9 and 10 (currently airing) to enjoy. I absolutely love watching everyone get dressed up and the inspiration for makeup looks that I’d love to try is ever-growing. Additionally, I have been dead set against watching Love Island – I used to wonder how watching a bunch of singles get together on an island could be interesting, but I’ve recently started watching the first season. Lets just say, I can’t wait to start watching the new season as it is aired (and out today, I believe!)
In terms of comedy I have a lot going on my list. Comedy always has been my jam. The ultimate favourite right now has to be Friday Night Dinner, a program following a jewish family, the Goodmans’, through their weekly Friday night. I had been introduced to this program recently and boy I was hooked after a couple of episodes; the first two series’ are on Netflix UK but there are more available on All 4 and a new episode on Channel 4 every Friday night at the moment. I am living for Friday Night Dinner, so please send all of your memes my way!!! I’ve also been really getting into Friends. When I was younger I could never see the appeal and didn’t really watch it, although I find the more I watch it the more I fall in love with the characters and I’m starting to really enjoy it. There are also some age old favourites that I feel I just have to add to this list; Miranda, The Job Lot and Come Fly with Me.
I’m a long standing fan of Black Mirror and what really entices me into it is that you don’t have to have watched previous episodes to understand the one that you are watching. The episodes are not always pleasant (Though they are tolerable even if you don’t like horror). I don’t wish to indulge too much but it covers such a range of controversial topics and really allows you to see the world in a different light – I would recommend it to anyone. I’ve also been hooked on 13 Reasons Why but it is not necessarily a light hearted program; following the reasoning and events which caused a girl, Hannah, to end her own life. There are graphic scenes and I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to watch it or not. I am glad that I did but I can see why it may be triggering to others.
What I plan on watching next:
